im new to car audio? i want a bangin sytem!?

i have a ford ranger. single cab. i want to get a system that bumps! i want a sub, just one 12". so i need an amp (what size for a 12"?). i already have different speakers in it. (i just replaced the old ones with the ones i have now) how hard is it to wire an amp and sub? and where/how do i start off? my dad knows alot about stereo systems and im sure he could do it but he wont. im going for my lisence today for the 2nd time. he doesnt think i need a system cuz il look like a punk with it. but i want one. tips on hooking it all up? it has a brand new head unit.

12" kicker L7, 1000 watt Kicker mono amp, Amp wiring kit (comes with everything you need to wire amp), speaker wire. You need to run a power wire from your car battery to the amp. Youll have to find a hole under the dash that goes to under your hood, usually under the steering wheel above the gas pedal. youll need to run a ground wire from the amp to a bolt that is close to the amp connected to the chassis of the car. The bolt that hold the seat down is good. Run RCA's from the output of the head unit to the input of the amp. run a wire from the wire labeled "remote" on the back of the head unit to the screw between the ground and power screws on the amp. connect the positive and neg. sub wires to the amp. you now have a bangin system. I know these instructions arent the greatest but the amp kit should come with wiring instructions.
