How does monoshock linkage work on a motorcycle?

Most monoshocks nowadays have complicated linkage. From what I've seen, on most sport bikes, the top of the shock mounts to the swingarm and the bottom attaches to linkage and then to the frame. How does this work?

How does the linkage convert the force of the swingarm moving up to compress the monoshock?

How does the linkage react/move while doing this?

It transfers power thru the pivot points of the linkage. It allows endless tunability by changing the length and pivot points of the links. By changing these two parameters it allows the speed of the movement and the distance the shock travels to be changed. Also it virtually removes all unsprung weight associated with the suspension system. Just try to imagine a modern dirt bike with 12" of rear travel with twin shocks. They would have to be massive to do the job one single shock does. It's one of those great inventions that changed motorcycles forever.
